WANT TO ADD ONE OF THE GRANDEST LANDMARKS IN THE UNITED STATES TO YOUR "VISITED" LIST? VISIT THE SURREAL SANDSTONE TOWERS IN MONUMENT VALLEY NAVAJO TRIBAL PARK.
Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park is located inside the Navajo Nation – one of the largest American Indian tribes. This sandy preserve bathes the region between Arizona and Utah in rich red hues, adding to its reputation of having some of the most dramatic and mesmerizing light.
Pack your day with numerous tours to take in all of the monument’s beauty. Opt for a self-guided tour, or stick with a Navajo guide for a Jeep excursion, in which you will see the best views of some of the most notable landmarks. And if you’re visiting in the summer, don’t worry about lunch – the park opens the Haskenneini Restaurant, specializing in native Navajo cuisine.
Inside the park, the View Hotel offers rooms with a perfect view of the Mitten Buttes and other scenic panoramas. If you want to really connect with the great outdoors, camping is available at Mitten View Campground, which offers perhaps the best views from any campsite in Arizona. Wherever you choose to stay, you’ll be in awe of the crimson mesas and sandstone towers that make this park famous.
